Travel times in Sint Maarten

Our ship (MSC Divina) will be in Philipsburg on a Tuesday from 1:30 pm until 9:30 pm.

How long is the cab ride from the ship to Marigot? From Marigot to Maho, then from Maho back to Philipsburg?

I was told that getting taxis in any of these places is not a problem, is that correct?

We've booked an Island tour. We've done the tour before, but didn't have time to see anything of Philipsburg. Thinking about canceling the tour and making a beeline to Marigot, then work our way back through Maho, hopefully to have a little time in Phillipsburg.

Any thoughts or recommendations?

Thanks.

Your unusual (late) in port time may work to your advantage. Generally ships are in from about 9:00 to 5:00. Since most of the big planes come in during early afternoon - say noon to three (you can check SXM arrivals for your in port day) you might want to make Maho the first stop - probably about 20 - 30 minutes from port. Then head up to Marigot - another 20 -25 minutes, then head back to Phillipsburg about 4:30 - 5:00 - when the afternoon traffic will have thinned out - say 20-30 minutes, giving yourself some time in Phillipsburg at the end of your day right near the port. Getting taxis at all your locations should be no problem.

  • 2 weeks later...

The Maho entertainment area is a fun place to spend in the early evening. Spending sunset at the Sunset Bar and Grill or Guys Driftwood bar at Maho beach and catching a plane or two and then walking basically across the street to the Maho entertainment area for dinner and some shopping, a drink up at the Sky Bar or a stop at the casino are a few ideas. It's easy to catch a taxi from there to the port as well.
