It'sWineO'Clock Posted May 19, 2016 #2 Share Posted May 19, 2016 Do you need to valadiate ticket when you exit? Looking to probably only use it from the port to city center Thanks For tram, you purchase ticket in advance from machine next to each stop. Then you take your ticket and "tap on" before boarding -- there is a post beside each stop, with a yellow thing on top. After exiting the tram, you "tap off" again. All tram stops have a digital display telling you how long until the next train arrives -- very handy. Can't speak about buses as we only took the tram while visiting last weekend. aweller88 Posted May 19, 2016 #3 Share Posted May 19, 2016 You only need to tap on and off if you have a leap card. If you are only going on one or two journeys it's better to just pay for each. You use the machine at the stop to get a ticket. They have inspectors on some trams and there's fines if u don't have a ticket but u don't have to validate it anywhere. aweller88 Posted May 19, 2016 #4 Share Posted May 19, 2016 For the bus just pay the driver when you get on. Make sure to have the right change. No big notes or cards
newgrange Posted May 21, 2016 #5 Share Posted May 21, 2016 If you're using a Leap Card, which is by far the cheapest way to do it, you have to tag on and tag off on the LUAS; for the buses, you put your card on the reader near the driver and tell him/her where you are going. You do not need to tag off on the buses. If you use the main reader on the right as you enter the bus (not the one by the driver) it will deduct the highest fare for the route you are on, so unless you know you are going all the way to the terminus, on the buses, use the reader by the driver. If you are using cash on the bus, it must be the exact change.
