What to do in Montego Bay?

Hi! We are going to Montego Bay on the Star Princess in January. We have been to Negril and Ocho Rios on previous cruises and land vacations.

We are looking for ideas on what to do in Montego Bay. We like the beach, we enjoy exploring the islands. Can you recommend any private tours?

Thanks for your help!

We like "flexible" dining, eating when we want to. Princess and Norwegian offers that. However, at the end of the cruise, both these lines automatically charge you for tips to the cabin steward, dining room waiter, assistant waiter, etc.regardless of how the service was. Every line has it's "pros and cons." In my opinion, the service on Royal Caribbean is better because the tips are not guaranteed...thus the employees work a little harder. But that is not to say we have not had a wonderful time on Norwegian or Princess. I don't want to start a debate here but I am trying to be honest. Not only are we going back on Princess in January, but we are also booked for September 2006. I am confident that although the tips are factored in, we well still get good service.

The Barretts seem to have the most tours (private) from Montego Bay. There are less operators than in Ocho. Check their web site: http://www.barrettadventures.com/

We took their YS Falls and Black River Combo tour three years ago and were extremely pleased. Gave us history and botanical lesson to boot, very knowledgeable, even reduced price when we filled their mini-bus.

We are touring with them again next month. Carolyn will answer your emails promptly. John:)

I hope Cozumel does not suffer from hurricane Wilma. We are looking forward to Playa de Sol beach.

Thank you, Monijohn, for the tour info. We will contact them.

Imacruizer, yes, we are on the January 22 Star cruise. I will look at the roll call after I send this.

Meanwhile, it is raining once again here in Boston. The fall foliage is not up to par due to the strange weather.
