The boat is nice . Its BIG.. It has an oder about it..sort of a septic system smell aft.

Do not do PC dining. They rush you through dinner, under an hour. The food is skimpy. We only ate in the dining room twice. We ate most of our meals at Cafe Carib

The entertainment was good if you kept to the comedians. The production numbers were very high school

Our best day was sitting on the balcony all afternoon with crackers and cheese and fruit from th H.C. and drinking good wine with good friends. Then going up in our shorts and getting Pizza and watching the Wizard of Oz under the stars!!!!!!

He was on CP, and evidently is a man of few words and blunt opinions.

We never got through PC in under 90 minutes, don't know how that would even be possible.

We just got back as well...I posted my review on another thread : ).

We ate in the dining room all but 2 nights we we were never rushed. The service was great and we were in there from an hour to almost 2 depending on what we ordered that night.

Our room was aft and we never had any septic smell.

She-Nick,

When I type up a big review, I do it in word or other software program and then cut and paste it into CC, that way you can save it and not waste all that time, just an idea.

While I can't fault anyone for enjoying a showing of the Wizard of Oz, I do have to question some of the other points - one piece of broccoli? Less than an hour in the dining room? How can five courses be served in less than an hour? Did they expect people to be finished faster if they only handed out one piece of broccoli each?

Since most of the meals were taken in Cafe Caribe, how can there be any real objective review of the dining rooms? And since I've seen and know the amount of work that goes into the production shows, I have a hard time believing they were amateurish.

I know, I wasn’t there, but I seriously doubt that Princess Cruises will continue to survive – much less compete head to head with RCI – if they offer this level of a cruise. Think Imperial Majesty – which is about the same as pizza and shorts.

These kinds of reviews do a great disservice to the cruise line and those who use these boards to glean some information about cruising. I don’t doubt that some things might have been wrong, but the claims should really be substantiated properly.

We were in cabin C733 and the vibrations didn't bother me at all. Yes we felt some but I expect to on a boat. I will say though that the motion in the room was more than I expected. I'm not sure if it was because we had an inside and noticed it more being so enclosed, but we were only in there to sleep and the motion worked out quite well for us : ).

Ok I will try again Flew Delta Song from Boston to Ft. Lauderdale .Great Plane.Got to the pier 9.50 fare for the 4 of us so much cheaper than getting a princess transfer. The check in went quick and on to the boat. The crew were wonderful showing us how to find the rooms.

We had 726 728 on Emerald deck. They are mini suites with a big bathroom and plenty of storage. Suitcases fit under the bed.The balcony was not big enough to put recliners on. There were 4 chairs 2 of which you could recline the top then put your feet up on the other chair. We found out the last day you could get cushions, so ask your steward.

We were rushed in the dining room, We went down to eat on formal night at 615. We were seated at 7pm and we walked out at 745. Why would I lie???There were about a 100 people milling around waiting for tables. We were served our main cource before we were finished with appt. We went again on Monday which was Italian night and the food was really bad. sorry folks. We had eggplant parm for an appt. coulnd't eat it. had swordfish ,it was the size of my palm and dry and 1 yes 1 tiny piece of brocolli and one tiny potatoe. So that was it for us in the dining room.

We ate at Sabatinis in Saturday Night. There were only about 5 tables being served. We had a blast. Philip our waiter was fun. The food was awesome. My friend Dick had the Veal chop minus the sweetbreads and said it was the best he ever had. Chris and I had a Seafood Medly, They put all the main course fish on one plate. It was awesome.

We ate at Sterling on Friday Night and it was another unhurried evening. The filet was delicious. Ask for the pepper gravy to put on top. And the Rasberry Creme Brulee was to die for.

The rest of our meals were at Cafe Carib for dinner except for pizza night and breakfast and lunch at Horizon. We figured out Horizon on the last day. Order your omlett. put in your toast get your bacon etc. by then the omlette is ready and you can grab the toast and everything will be hot!!

Cafe Carib had awesome food Seafood, Chinese food, sushi Carving stations etc. And you didnt have to dress up

Clothing I know this has been a much discussed issue. If you want to dress up every night and it makes you happy to do so ,then go for it. Its your cruise. But if you want to wear shorts everyday ,Go for it, its your cruise!! Personally we saw more people in shorts than dresses or long pants. Especially the men(shorts not dresses) The last night while we looked thru the pictures I took note of about the 200 people looking and saw one lady in a long dress. a few in long pants and everyone else in shorts.

Entertainment Sorry the production number Lets Rock was very amaturish. There was one girl, short dark hair who had an awesome voice. We were wishing she would have done the whole show. The comedians were hysterical They had 3 but you had to get to the shows at least 30 minutes ahead to get any kind of seat and 45 min ahead to get a good seat.

There were just too many people and to few seats. We saw people in the burger section standing up to eat, and by the way the burgers were pretty bad. But the pizza was awesome. Had that about 5 times!

The chair hogs were out in force. Pool attendents did nothing about it. We ended up sitting aft near the outrigger bar when we were on deck. The only day we got near the pool was Princess Cay Day. Its the only time we used the hot tub.The funny part of all the chaires being saved was no one was ever in the pools.

Ports St Martin we rented a car from Budget ahead of time over the net for 59 dollars so 30 a couple. We went directly to Turtle Pier for the best French Toast we have ever had. We found this place last year while staying on the island for a week. Then over to Orient but it was way to windy so on to Dawn Beach, another find from last year. Went to our favorite resturant from last year Bananas and had baked stuffed Mahi Mahi and fried Oysters. That was wonderful. that night was pizza and Wizard of Oz. We were pretty full.

Now in all fairness this was only our 2nd cruise, and we did have fun because of the company we were in. Our friends were in our wedding almost 32 years ago. We travel with them once a year. If it wasnt for the afternoons on the balcony and all the laughs we had I would have to say this was our last cruise. We really just want to go back to St. Martin and sit on a beach all week and eat great food. So thats our plan for next year.

Personally I thought the boat was to big with to many people . There were chairs always availabe, but they were on the top decks no pool no bar no entertainment This is all just my humble opinion. I will be glad to answer any questions

Ali

one was ever in the pools!!

I'm sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the food in the dining room. In fact I'm a little surprised to read that comment, since the quality of the meals served on our cruise on Caribbean Princess was definitely a step above what we expected.

I agree that the ancillary service staff, such as roving waiters, seem to be few in number. One statistic about the ship I've never seen posted is the number of crew aboard compared to the previous Grand-class ships. At times I felt that some areas were understaffed, so perhaps the passenger:crew ratio has increased.

Something I found out, too, was that if you become over-sensitized to an annoyance such as chair hogs, or run-amok teens, ANY further incident will be perceived as a generality, not an exception. It sounds to me like you enjoyed your cruise and brought home some positive memories, and those will soon outweight whatever unpleasantness you might have experienced.

I am curious, what ship was your other cruise on?

It sounds like Bert is still on board! Great news, hope he will be there a least a few more weeks.

We went on Costa Atlantica. The food was very bad,so Princess was a big improvement(Buffets) Bert is in Crooners he was fun also Highpocket played in the Explorers Lounge and they were great. There was also a swing band ,didnt think we would like them but we did!!! We didn't enjoy all the 70s disco, guess we are to old for that.

spongerob we did enjoy the cruise. We had a blast. I was just telling it how it was for us.We were all quite satisfied with the buffet.I realize it must be hard to feed so many people all at once, plus we wanted to sit alone, so they couldn't put us at a big table. It is just all my opinion

quote:
bdjam I was giving my opinion. I thought that was what this message board was for

It is. But your first post was cryptic and there was no substantiation of your claims. Your second post was much better. Thanks for doing it again.

I must say, however, that I find it incredible that two people on the same cruise can have such opposite experiences.

Too bad you didn't enjoy the experience but at least you gave it a try.
