What are formal nights like on Jewel?

Hi looking into a cruise on this ship, but weighing it against Caribbean Princess. After searching through some threads I'm still not clear about the dining room dress code situation and have lots of other questions. Sounds like its hardly enforced so what is formal night honestly like? Because we really look forward to this.

Do most dress up? Do men wear tuxes/dark suits? Do people stay dressed up after dinner or change to go to shows, etc. Are there formal photo areas set up? Is there a captains party before dinner with free drinks (where everyone on the ship is invited non of this vip stuff).

I know it sounds confusing to a traditional diner, but once you try it, you'll be amazed. There are all types of dress on formal nights. And, believe it or not, no one feels out of place. I'd say 40-50% really dress up for formal nights. You'll get other numbers from other people. We dress way up, because we like to, so we feel totally comfortable and don't care what anybody else is wearing. That's the whole thing about Freestyle...there are no fashion DOs and DON'Ts, so nobody gets there undies in a bundle.

If you like to dress up, you won't be alone, nor will you be alone if you don't. It's a win, win for everybody.

Some have spoken about having one of the dining rooms set aside for formal only, but I've never actually seen that happen. I think that would be nice, but it hasn't been a big deal for us.

Once we're on the ship, pretty much nothing can bother us!!
