WLTRVLR Posted October 20, 2005 #1 Share Posted October 20, 2005 I just booked Celebrity Suite 9098 for a cruise to Alaska in 2006. It was the last one available and I would like to know if the overhang of deck ten is a significant concern or should I just stay put. Thanks. AstridSJ Posted October 20, 2005 #2 Share Posted October 20, 2005 The link to the following thread will show you a picture of the overhang, it is the second or third post on that thread. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=245268 We found the overhang to be bothersome and if I were you I would get waitlisted for a lower deck Astrid
WLTRVLR Posted October 21, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted October 21, 2005 Thanks for the photo. Deck ten appears to hang over that suite quite a bit. It looks like it would really block the sun. Has anyone stayed in 9098? Any other comments?
biolabetty Posted October 21, 2005 #4 Share Posted October 21, 2005 We were in 9069 and liked having the overhang because of all of the rain we experienced. We could still sit out there and not get drenched. If we wanted to take unobstructed pictures, we went up a deck or two and went outside. We still got plenty of sunshine, when we actually saw the sun.
Host Karen Posted October 21, 2005 #5 Share Posted October 21, 2005 We sailed Infinity in 9131 last December and vowed we wouldn't sail on deck 9 again. We didn't like the overhang. The support beams or overhang show up in many of our photos, and although some sun made it onto the balcony, it wasn't enough for us. We weren't bothered too much by the noise from the buffet area, only for about 10 minutes around 6 a.m. and for about 30 minutes around 10:30 p.m. as the crew set up and cleaned up. Since there are so many cabins to choose from on decks 6-8, we decided to stick with those in the future. The one benefit was the short trip to the buffet! One of the reasons I enjoy these boards so much: Ask a question, get as many different opinions as there are responses. :)
WLTRVLR Posted October 22, 2005 Author #6 Share Posted October 22, 2005 Thank you all for the input. After seeing the photo and reading your comments, I am going to request to be waitlisted for another deck.
Mr_Cruise Posted October 22, 2005 #7 Share Posted October 22, 2005 ...my main concern would be that the CS category has no balcony. It does however have a rather large wrap around full length window(s) and seating area. If the lack of a balcony is of little concern to you, then a CS is very nice. Have a great cruise, I LOVE the Infinity.
