JW and Jerome's Adventure on The Norwegian Escape

Recommended Posts

Well guys, I haven't met you, but I know we'd have many a laugh! And as excited I am for our (my 17 yr old daughter and I) upcoming Escape cruise, I'm sad we're just missing you by a few weeks - we're sailing on the Escape March 11. And I must thank you for your advice, commentary, tales and entertainment! You are awesome and inspiring! While my crappy bBackberrry limits my live posting ability, I will commit to following up, given all the great advice I've received!

I am so excited for you! You cruise in just about two weeks! Oh my goodness, you are about to TINKLE! I would love to hear about your vacation on The Escape, please chime in here and tell us all about it! Thank you so much for your kind comments.

Wow! 48 cruises! I thoroughly enjoy reading your reviews. You always make me laugh. You certainly enjoy life as it should be. I will be embarking on my 10th cruise Friday on the lovely Celebrity Equinox. Have a great cruise, I know you will!!!

We loved the Equinox, and were on her twice in a 6 month period. Awesome food and service. Enjoy!

One of the most comprehensive MENU sites compiled by a good friend and fellow upcoming Roll Call member CardFanDubG.

All current (2017) Menu's and Food Offerings are listed here. If there are any updates, I will provide them on the Trilogy continuation of this review.

Here is the Menu Link for Norwegian Escape:

I'm glad this thread was on the first page today so I could get updated. I read a lot of your posts before my Escape back in early August. Solo cruising has been a bit harder for me than I thought it would. It makes me miss my fun times with my late Nana cruising and also sort of is a constant reminder how single I am ;p . Reading through your posts today though made me feel like I want to try Escape again (I did a 5 day on the Dawn in December). I'm currently job seeking so if I get an offer soon I just might have to take a trip before I officially start big girl life. I would be SO excited if it just so happened I could be on part 3 of the trilogy!

As a young solo woman traveler it really meant a lot to me to hear how you put yourself at risk to protect that intoxicated young woman. One of the main reasons I solo cruise is I feel like it is one of the safer options for traveling alone. What a POS to act like that on the cruise, so scary. So glad there are still people out there who will step up when needed. Have a FABULOUS trip and I can't wait for part 3!

Aww, thank you so much and thank you for following along. There are such great plans in sight for us as well, more to come on that. I hope that you can join us, at the last minute, and there are lots of cabins available on our sailing, surprising since our sailing is March 25th, which is the week before Easter. Traveling solo is both adventurous and I can see what you are saying, sometimes intimidating, but the best part is you can pass gas under the sheets in the cabin and no one will get mad! Ha!

I met a wonderful guy on our last sailing, who happened to just hit one of those insane lottery jackpots, and he is traveling the world, all by himself. Good for him! He has become a true cruise maniac now on his way to Legendary, and has been on all kinds of ships, and in the process, he has made hundreds upon hundreds of friends. He told me that before he won the lottery, he was very, very shy, and now, somehow, he could care less about insecurity, with all that money he is King of the World (and because he is Gay and I am already THE Queen, I told him he has to take the "Straight" roll as KING). So, listen to Auntie JW. If you aren't already independently wealthy, just go for it and act like you are Queen of the world. Just like I do! I am Sir Hot Lady LoseALot, Queen of the Slots in the Motion of the Ocean!

Our friend Rusty, whom we met on The Escape Number 2 Adventure, will also be traveling with us again on this Trilogy Part 3. He is also traveling single and he's in our Escape Number 1 Secret Mini Suite 8120, solo(The one we made the video of). This time, for Number 3, we are in a Mini Suite with Huuuuuuuge Balcony 8726, but on the other side of the ship, to see the difference. We will post a new video of that as well. Plus, depending on which port we face sailing in and out, we can sail a way on each side of the ship, with cocktails of course, on each others balcony.

Come on our sailing, after all, How much trouble can Trouble get you into?

Here is our new friend, Jerome and I. He is so much fun!

We are presently building a "Cruise Guys Adventures" website that would combine links to all of our Cruise Critic reviews, pictures and current Roll Calls, along with our upcoming Adventure events and dates, so anyone who would be interested could coordinate their plans with us. We are not building a travel rep site or becoming a travel agency. We will not be booking cruises for folks. I am too popular on Cruise Critic and want to continue to write about our (hopefully) entertaining experiences and insights without interfering with their guidelines and rules. I am looking to enhance the awareness of Cruise Critic, and bring more folks into the realm to participate. There are hundreds of thousands of our followers that are not even on Cruise Critic, finding us through other social media, professional or video channels. For example, one of our travel videos has more than one million views. I am constantly writing to folks that contact us, "Please join Cruise Critic". Now Jerome and I will have a website that consolidates all our media and would automatically refer folks here to Cruise Critic.

As of now, Norwegian, Celebrity and MSC are going to work in conjunction with our upcoming Cruise Critic Roll Calls, and are partnered with us for these upcoming "Adventures". They too are keenly aware of the amazing JW and Jerome's Adventure Magic and the popular, dare I say complimentary, exposure we give them. There will be lots of fun and surprises with an "elevated" experience for our Adventure seekers.

For example, several years ago, when The EPIC was in her Inaugural Season, our JW and Jerome's Adventure Cruise Critic Roll Call was the largest ever convened on that ship, with more than 400 cabins participating and 1,235 passengers, 1/4 of the ship. The Meet and Greet was so large it was held was in the Theater. It was also Thanksgiving and a nightmare to lead that Roll Call. Jerome and I hosted a private cocktail party for a couple of hundred of the actual Adventure Roll Call members who signed up with our group, (not those that just showed up because there was a Meet and Greet listed in the daily bulletin and had no idea what Cruise Critic was), but those that actually took an active participation in our Roll Call. I loved that, and we want to do more of it for our Cruise Critic Adventure Seekers who follow us as we journey through this thing called Cruising Life.

We do so look forward to the future and our motto is as always:

We want to have as much fun as possible and take as many people with us as we can.

I just wish I knew where all our pictures went on this thread. All of the wonderful Officers and Crew of Norwegian on both sailings were featured, as well as my humorous pics. Ever since the change over to the new format, the pics are all gone. Unless it's just my server. Is the pic of the crew appearing on the first page of this review on anyone's screen?

Here are the pics of the Officers from Escape 1, June 2016 and Escape 2, August 2016

Martin and Sean are now on The Norwegian JOY:

Hi JW,

I see no pictures on the First Page of this thread.

I have the MSC Seaside booked for both March 24 and March 31 in the Yacht Club. I'm waiting for our local school calendar to be published and now I hope and pray I get to sail with you guys again. Depending on the school break, I will have to cancel one of the weeks. Please cruise gods, let it be the March 24 week that I have to cancel

I can't see the picture on the first page either.

Man you are really making me want to book your cruise! I have an interview Tuesday so we will see what happens with that. They have taken over two months to schedule this so I am not sure what the turn around AFTER the interview will look like.

Your website sounds great! I hope it ends up benefiting you guys somehow since you graciously do these reviews. I never finished my Escape review and I feel like somewhat of a jerk for that.

Also I really think you guys should try and get on Bliss for her inaugural season :p probably should do the 8 day Mexican Riviera in October. TheDougOut is booked on that one and I bet the internet would explode if you also booked! :o

We should be going on the Bliss, but we also learned a really long time ago, wait for a while to sail on a brand new ship. It's at premium rates because it's new, and if we sail to early, we get to be guinea pigs while things go awry. Friends were on the Inaugural of The Harmony of The Seas in Europe last summer, and the ship should have been renamed The Mutiny of the Seas with all the situations that were occurring and the passengers rebelling while underway. The ship was so unprepared to sail but did it anyway. The same thing happened to us on The Celebrity Reflection Inaugural, The Carnival Holiday, Jubilee and Celebration Inaugurals (boy are we old), and The Norwegian EPIC Inaugural "Season" sailing(our most disastrous cruise ever).

The Bliss will be something to look forward to and it does have such varied itineraries in it's first season, and since Norwegian has done this plenty of times already with the BA/GA/ES, most of the kinks should be worked out before she sails.

We were on the Maiden Escape Transatlantic in Oct 2015. Although the crossing was good, the new ship was great, we felt a bit underwhelmed with the cruise. No pomp at all, no maiden crossing souvenirs to be given by NCL, and no fanfare upon arrival in Miami. Also, some drinks and food were in short supply and they had to get rid of most stuff (European) before the ship reached the USA. The crew were still in training. CAUTION TheDougOut: the District Brew House did not have FULL selection of beer until the ship reached the USA and stocked up, and this place ran out of many of whatever selections they had long before the crossing's end. Expect a dry crossing, lol. Maybe they might learn their lesson for the Bliss, but will Bliss have the DBH??

This said, we will not do maiden crossing on brand new ship again, but will cruise on brand new ships a bit later.

Well the October sailing is a solid like 6 months after the Bliss has it's inaugural sailing so it's something to think about :D . I think you were on the Escape about 6 months after it's launch where you had your best cruise ever :D.

I think my interview went really well today but of course you never know! I know there was another enthusiastic girl about my age leaving before me. If I don't get it though I think I will take a vacation anyways -_- Since I am currently a substitute teacher it's sort of easy to do that. One of the few perks of the job.

So the good news is I got the job! The bad news is that they want me to start March 20th so looks like I can't go on the cruise! I can't wait to read the final chapter though!

Sorry you won't be on the March 25 cruise, but congratulations on the job.

So Happy you got a new job! Yay! But there is a way you could still come with us........It's a new virus, only lasts a week, it's called the Ocean Blues or the Wave Flu because it comes in like waves. :halo:

I hope you cruise with you on one of our Adventures!

They actually moved my start date up to March 13th! One great thing though is that I start with 3 weeks of paid vacation (PLUS the holidays!). Also so glad to not be at a place where I have to worry about billable hours like my other law school classmates!

Really think about the Bliss in October JW :D ! I wish I had more flexibility to check out other cruise lines but since I am a #foreveralone I am basically limited to NCL for now :/

We are literally booked for the year, and we purposely timed our next cruises to coincide with our 50th cruise on The MSC Seaside. That sailing is going to be an Adventure unto it's own!

This upcoming "Triple Play Trilogy" Norwegian Escape Sailing of ours is going to complete our review series and allow us to rate the Restaurants, Service, Casino, Entertainment, Amenities and of course, The Martini's over the past nine months. This way, the fun will continue on and on for everyone else. All of the little tidbits that we have picked up over these last three sailings will all be written about and we can continue the conversation with all of our cruise enthusiasts!

Just nineteen days till the third Bon Voyage on the Escape. It feels like we are coming home!

Ahhh so jealous! What I wouldn't give for a week in Vibe (will you be going for the pass again this time?). That is basically where I was able to make my friends as a solo traveler. Also had an infamous/shameful story from there that is mostly made up...

We are certainly going to try for it. But with the new boarding procedures, we will have to chance it as we are Gold (Knocked down a few notches as this cruise would have given us Platinum, but now have to sail once more for Platinum) and we are also CAS, so we shall see.

I would love to have been there for the shameful made up story and I would have told it here~

Dear JW, some words from a fan from Brazil: you are awesome. Keep going, keep cruising keep having the time of your life.

I only cruised one time on Carnival sensation on September 2000. I didn't have a great time in that ship that's why since then I didn't have the will to cruise again.

, however I have been following the creation of these new mega ship and made me curious. So I decided to have my first time solo trip and solo cruise. I'll travel to Miami the day before the cruise on 2nd June, despite all the worries if my family.

I'm 42 years old I'm not single but I'll travel solo. I don't care.

Your reviews a out the Escape are fabulous. They helped me a lot to understand what would be expected in this cruise.

Wish you and your bae the best.
