Which Cruise?

OP.. I am considering this cruise from Sydney as well, only I would continue on up to Vancouver . Have never been downunder , so I understand how daunting the planning can be. I am almost 6 feet tall, so I completely understand the crapped seating as well. I would not be looking forward to that , but I guess if I don't do it, then I would never see some parts of the world.

good luck with your planning and when you decide, let us know! :)

It will cost more to stop in Hawaii than to stop in LAX or SFO. I would try and use mileage points if you can. If you go on the Princess site, you can use their EZ Air tool to deviate your flights and check the airfare.

If you can get a non-stop to Auckland, it's 13 hours from LAX. I checked a couple of days ago and a round trip flight was $1000.00. I checked JFK to Honolulu to Sydney for you and it was about $1200.00, one-way.

Our trip will be about four weeks long, 16 days on the cruise ships, 9 days on land, and 2 days flying.

I will be retiring from the AF in Jan 2018 so you may see me on your cruise! Unless I am given a promotion then I'll stick around 3 more years. I have been trying to figure out how to see as much of Australia and NZ as possible and like your itinerary. We were also thinking about renting a motorhome in NZ for a few days.

At the moment we do not plan on taking this cruise because 50% of the ports are the same as the cruise we are going on in October. We will watch for another one like this one over the next few years or bite the bullet and do something like PartyBarbie but stop in Hawaii or LA for a few days to break up the flight.
