Escape- Excursion questions

Forgive this newbie for asking these questions. I will be sailing May 13th 2017- May 20th. Stops in Roatan Bay, Harvest Caye, Costa Maya and Cozumel. We are not big sit on the beach all day at each port type of family and like to run around and do things. We do plan on using one beach day though at Harvest Caye (if completed). We also do want to see the Mayan ruins at one port and then from there we are not certain. Here are the questions.

 

1. How soon do you all recommend booking excursions. There seem to be so few right now being offered online with Norwegian?

 

2. Do you recommend booking with Norwegian or using outside tour guides?

 

3. Which port is your favorite for seeing the Mayan ruins?

 

4. Which Mayan ruins are your favorite?
