Rostock by foot

We are going on the Marco Polo soon and one of the ports is Rostock. Is it possible to get off the ship there and walk into town? Or is there a shuttle service or a reasonably priced taxi ride available?

Rostock port is the Warnemünde Cruise Center which is approximately 10 miles / 16 km to downtown Rostock.

However, there is a tram stop right at the port with a tram going every 15 minutes or so (more often it seems in peak times). The tram is really cheap - should be 2 Euros for a single ticket or 4,90 Euros for a day ticket.
