wingnt68 Posted July 13, 2016 #1 Share Posted July 13, 2016 I am recovering from knee surgery and I see people post about the pier. Anyone know exactly how long the pier is? Is there any little pedi-cab drivers like there are in cozumel?
abgupton Posted July 13, 2016 #2 Share Posted July 13, 2016 I've not been but from my research it is my understanding that there is bus/shuttle service from the ship to the end of the pier.
gt14 Posted July 13, 2016 #3 Share Posted July 13, 2016 I've been there several times. It's a couple miles long I believe, and you can't walk it. There are lots of free buses that come right to the ship and drop you in the center of town. I think if you book an excursion, they pick you up at the ship as well. Not sure if we are getting off the ship or not. We don't due the ruins and it doesn't look like its a nice port (easy access).
Westbank is bestbank Posted July 14, 2016 #5 Share Posted July 14, 2016 You can walk around at the port without taking the bus to the mainland area. They have shops, bars, and even a small pool right at the port. If u take the bus it brings everyone down a 4 mile pier to a bus station. The beach area is about 3 or 4 blocks from the bus station. elklemi Posted July 15, 2016 #6 Share Posted July 15, 2016 Does this mean the bus will drop you off at the end of the pier right at the beach? I was under the impression that the bus took you into town and it was a 4-5 block walk back to the beach.
Westbank is bestbank Posted July 15, 2016 #7 Share Posted July 15, 2016 The bus does not drop u off at the beach. The beach is a few blocks from the bus station.
maldenmusic Posted July 16, 2016 #8 Share Posted July 16, 2016 Been there 8 times, last time was last week. The pier is 4 miles long and the Auto Progreso free bus will take you from the front of the cruise ship pier to the El Centro bus station which is 4-5 blocks from the beach. If you don't want to go into town, there is shopping at the pier and the prices are not much different.
