azurelullaby Posted July 20, 2016 #1 Share Posted July 20, 2016 Unfortunately arriving the day before is not an option. We're looking at taking a flight that arrives at JFK at 7:15am the day of our Breakaway cruise. I figure this gets us into Manhattan about 8:15-8:45. How early can we arrive at the Manhattan cruise terminal? We don't mind hanging out for a few hours. We have Haven priority boarding so we should be able to be one of the first on the ship. Also, is there a good place near the cruise terminal to get breakfast? We have to get to the airport super early for our flight.
Rare mking8288 Posted July 21, 2016 #2 Share Posted July 21, 2016 BA is typically docked at Pier 88, MCT by 7 AM (sometimes even earlier, but could also be 7:30+) for the Express Self Walkoff to start around 7:45+ Porters will be there and start checking luggage by the time you arrive. Unless you are doing carry-on luggage only, it will take you 15 to 30 minutes to walk downstairs to arrival luggage carousal, retrieve your bags and go outside for ground transportation ... after taxiing to your terminal & gate and deplane. Expect travel time to be 60 to 75 minutes, depending on unpredictable road/traffic conditions even on Sunday morning & weather. Expect to be at the pier around 8:45 to 9 AM - dropoff your checked luggage upstairs, then you can do your breakfast nearby. There are some local diner/coffee shops along 11th Avenue, nothing that we would consider "good" (everyone's ideas & definitions varied) Nothing across the street in the immediate area along 12th Avenue around W. 48th Street. Security will be open by 9 AM, if not sooner but the check-in for NCL isn't staffed until 9:30 AM per my understanding - we usually don't arrive until about 10 AM and breeze right through quickly. The Haven check-in area is in the rear section of the terminal building out into the Hudson River - there are roped off areas reserved for Haven, prior to boarding and they will show you where. As a suggested alternative, depending on the airline/terminal - on a domestic flight, you might find it easier to eat something light (on the go) at JFK after landing on your way to get your luggage. azurelullaby Posted July 21, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted July 21, 2016 Thank you! This is just the information I was looking for. We're flying in on Delta. We're trying to pack extra light this time so we'll only have carry ons. We cruised once before and brought way too much clothes. If it's easy enough to get between terminals at JFK, we'll probably just grab some Starbucks before heading to the pier. If we loiter long enough maybe we can time our arrival with NCL check in starting. Thank you again!
