Cost of car rental and your experience

We are in port in February with six other ships, so I am pretty much counting out 7 Mile Beach. Seems like most people will be heading that way and a super-packed beach just doesn't appeal to us.

Rum Point seems like a great alternative (have done the stingrays before), so I reached out to Native Ways regarding their excursions.

I also am looking into a rental, as suggested on these boards. Does anyone have any pricing info to share? I will be be contacting Avis but am interested to hear from people who have rented before - how much was it, was it a smooth experience, etc.

Thanks!

7 Mile Beach is about 6 miles of beachfront....it's not THAT crowded! Not everyone is a beach bum! Buses are easy and cheap! I would think the rental process would eat up a bunch of time!
