Going on cruise in December 2016 from rome. Will be arriving day before and staying in hotel in pantheon.

Do not know what time embankment is and was wondering if I could tour the vatican the morning of embarkment.

Depends on how you wish to transfer from Rome to Civitavechia and what you wish to do in the Vatican.

 

In theory you could rise early and do a very early run through the Vatican Museums with a timed ticket or one of their pre-opening tickets, then a quick run through St Peters. Personally, I would do just one or the other but not both unless you are super fit and can cope with large crowds. Leave ROme at 12.30. Arrive in Civitavecchia at 14.30 - embark at 15.00 for a sailway around 1800-1900 which are the ususal sail times fromCivitavecchia.

Yea I'm tired just thinking about the rushing. I think this time I'm going to concentrate on the other sites and do the Vatican next time.
