We use a lanyard with a ring on it for our sign and sail card. Have guest services or casino punch a hole in it for you. We always kept ours hanging on the cabin door handle so we wouldn't leave the cabin without it. Always bring a sweather or such, chilly in some areas of ship.

Even after all the cruises I have taken, I still sometimes forget to take the bottom off of the tags given for debarkation. The part to rip off that identifies your particular piece of luggage!

Also, if you have a set time for dining, 6PM means 6PM, not 6:20PM. If you come late, you will hold up the servers for the next dining time, or even worse, if you have late seating, you will hold them up from getting off work on time and you will be stealing their precious personal time to relax or sleep.

I would reiterate one previous tip - be sure you are back at the ship at least 30-45 minutes before scheduled departure time! The ship WILL NOT wait on passengers who are late. That is, unless you are on a ship sponsored excursion.

To avoid being late, be sure your WATCH is set to ship time! DO NOT depend on your cell phone for the time since it will change to the local time and not ship time! If you are unaware of what ship time is, simply drop by the guest services desk and ask.

Thanks! I'm coming from Toronto Canada where the heat is pretty gross right now. So I'm used to that lol. We actually don't plan on many excursions. Beach days and the water parks in the ports. I want to relax on my vacay. not be on the run too. And have time to explore the ship

We are from TO too!!

There are lots and lots of tips and forums on here, make sure to check the posting dates when you are reading. You can easily read a piece of advice that is very out of date!

My advice...

1.

Since you (are probably) flying: Cross pack a few outfits in your partners suitcase, and let them do the same. That way if one of your bags gets lost along the way you won't be completely without clothing!!

2.

If you were to read and pack everything that people deem "essential" you'd end up with a whole other suitcase of: wipes, duct tape, magnets, highlighters, night lights, white noise machines, etc etc... Use your own discretion, enjoy the advice but pack light.

3.

Enjoy it. Live in the moment and don't over plan. There is something really awesome about spending an afternoon doing nothing on board. Go with it.

1. If you work out in the gym and/or get sweaty ... you can use their laundry service and stuff as much into one of their laundry bags as you can for a flat $15 fee. TIP: Roll your dirty clothes before putting them in the laundry bag and you will get more in. I paid for ONE bag but when they returned my clothes it was three bags lol. Also, they wash in HOT water and dry on HIGH so I only send them my gym stuff and nothing that will shrink.

2. You can eat at the Cuchina Italian restaurant for FREE at lunch if you want to try it -- at dinner it's an extra charge.

3. ANYTIME someone asks for your Sail and Sign card they are charging you for something (except when you get on/off the ship).

4. The only cash you need on board is for the casino and (optional) tipping

5. I bring a can of air freshner unless I'm in a balcony cabin. Sometimes strange smells are in those cabins. Also a magnet with metal hook/clip so you can keep track of all the paper that gets delivered to your room, as the walls are metal.

6. Get a free deck of cards from Guest Services

7. The showers in the spa areas are REALLY NICE ...

8. Pack enough sun screen, it's REALLY expensive on board, and your itinerary wont have access to many non-carnival owned stores.

9. Wait for later in the cruise to buy t-shirts from cruise stores on board, they typically have a sale mid-cruise.

10. Bingo is a rip-off these days - very overpriced and you don't win much. And I love Bingo but avoid on cruises.

BONUS TIP: When you first get on the ship day 1 they will have waiters walking with trays of drinks.... these "drinks of the day" in special souvenir glasses ... which are REALLY expensive. You can skip buying the expensive souvenir glass (unless you really want it) and just get the drink in a regular glass from any of the bars.

Hope this helps!

Cheers!

Great advice Jeff....except for one thing....there is no Cucuina Italian on the Conquest.....:)
