cruzgolfer Posted October 27, 2005 #1 Share Posted October 27, 2005 We are booked on Celebritys Century for 10/29. I hear that the port is still closed... Anyone hear whether or not it will be open for Saturday 10/29:confused:
cherylandtk Posted October 27, 2005 #2 Share Posted October 27, 2005 The port opened this morning (Thursday) for cruise trafiic. Celebrity has not announced any itinerary changes as of NOW, but keep checking with them or your TA right up until you are on the ship. Be advised that 90% of hotels in FLL have reported damage, many significant, and that you most likely will have difficulty in finding a place to stay if you were planning to arrive the night before the cruise. TrentS Posted October 28, 2005 #3 Share Posted October 28, 2005 Actually very few Fort Lauderdale hotels suffered any DAMAGE - They're just without power and can't reopen until power is restored. The power is slowly coming back across the area and things are improving every day. Yes, Port Everglades reopened this morning and is operating, as is FLL. Coolcruise02 Posted October 28, 2005 #4 Share Posted October 28, 2005 Has anyone heard about the power on Los Alos Blvd area along the beach? Thanks :)
TrentS Posted October 28, 2005 #5 Share Posted October 28, 2005 I think you mean Las Olas Blvd... The beach was still closed to non-residents when I was last out, and power is spotty.
Coolcruise02 Posted November 1, 2005 #6 Share Posted November 1, 2005 Sorry about that. What about the Yankee Clipper... is it open? Thanks
TrentS Posted November 1, 2005 #7 Share Posted November 1, 2005 Yankee Clipper was still closed yesterday. I didn't see any visible damage, and they seem to have power, but I don't know what the problem is. This is from the Starwood website... http://www.starwoodhotels.com/info/landing.html?category=WILMA&IM=CORP_HP_TL_WILMA The Sheraton Yankee Clipper Hotel is currently CLOSED and not accepting any existing reservations through Tuesday, November 1st. The property will start accepting new reservations on Mon Nov 7. The property is currently without power due to Hurricane Wilma and will be waiving cancellation fees through November 7th. The Fort Lauderdale Boat Show is rescheduled for November 3-6. Deposits for boat show reservations will be refunded due to these unforeseen circumstances. Also, ANY reservations made through Expedia, Hotwire, Priceline, hotels.com, Orbitz, & Travelocity are required to be cancelled through their companies directly. FOR EMPLOYEES ONLY: If you have not spoken to your manager, please report to work on Wednesday, November 2nd for your normal scheduled shift.
