Vista cruise report - Havana Interior rooms

OK, I'm back! At little jet lagged, but back. Just wanted to convey a couple things about Vista and then I'll take any questions.

- Great looking ship, the atrium is kinda weird since it's not as much of a central point on this ship

- Havana Interior rooms were nice and spacious for 2 people. Yes, you could hear the band at night (the bass) but it didn't keep me awake. We had rooms 5211 & 5217 - FYI.

- Havana pool police. I never saw any. I will say the 3 times I went out there before 5pm it was nice since there were just a few people. After 5pm, WATCH OUT! Every kid on the boat is running from hot tub to hot tub, jumping in the pool and flinging water everywhere. We started calling this the "invasion of the blue towels" since Havana cabins have tan towels and all other areas have blue. No parents to be found. Problem was that with Europe being so port intensive we hardly ever got out to the pool area before 5pm. I do love the Havana area though.

- we ate at the Steak House - great. JiJi's - great. Italian restaurant - very good. Dining room was hit and miss. Brunch didn't seem as good on this Carnival boat. Hated that Carnival shut all the restaurants down so early for lunch. Never got a burrito at Blue Iguana or lunch at Jiji's. The BBQ was open 1 day - ummmmm, NO. That's not BBQ. I'm from the South. I know BBQ. Guy's burgers were good. Always a long line. Deli was fine. I like their ice cream they made each day too.

- cabin steward was great but hardly ever saw her. I guess that's the point.

- Shows - only went to 1. Flick. It was OK. hint - don't sing a song for the movie Titanic while onboard a cruise ship! But the theater was the worst I've ever sat in. Do not sit upstairs, you can't see the stage unless in the front row. I never saw the show, but I heard it.

- Casino - didn't gamble. Wow! Smokey!

- Red Frog Pub - did the brewery tour. Colin was excellent! A lot of fun and good beer. do this!

- Embarkation was dreadful. Like a herd of cattle. No structure for boarding like in the States. Disembarking was pretty easy.

Like I said, we didn't do much else since we had tours set up for everyday. Only went on 1 Carnival tour. While in Mallorca we went on the Soller Train tour. While it was nice, it wasn't worth what they charged and was but far the worst of the tours we went on. Book outside the cruise, you'll be better off and have lots more $.

Any Questions?

Thank you for reviewing the Havana interior staterooms, have been looking forward to a review of these cabins. Downgraded from a ocean view spa cabin to a Havana interior on our November 2017 Vista cruise, since this was the only Havana cabin available. Was concerned about the size of the room.

Sounds like the Havana cabins are not as sound proof as the ones on the Sunshine in the same exact location. We stayed on the Promenade deck. 3 rooms total - aft balcony, an inside, and oceanview - no noise to be heard from any of those cabins from Ocean Plaza on the Sunshine.

Theater seating also sounds the same as on the Sunshine. Don't bother going upstairs to watch a show - you can't see from all the lighting equipment.

First I heard of a negative review on the bar-b-que.

Thanks for the feedback. I have one year to wait my turn!

Embarkation was crazy when we went but it was only the third sailing. Im not a fan of the vista overall but it wont stop me from sailing on her again. Did you like the tripping hazards ? The metal strips for the fire doors caused sooo many people to go stumbling. Food was very lack luster in my eyes and im not picky when it comes to food. And carnival needs to lose the bacon patrol. Everything in the buffet is serve yourself except for the bacon, lol

No pics of the room. Sorry.

Tripping hazards. Funny you said that. I had forgotten about them. My wife was constantly tripping all over the ship.

The food choices on the Lido were more limited than I remember on any other ship I've sailed.

Yes the bacon police were out. But, if you eat breakfast at the Taste Bar, which we did most mornings since it was empty, NO POLICE! All the bacon you care to put on your plate!

I agree with the buffet variety being very limited. Very much so compared to the sunshine cruise we were on just a few months earlier. And the taste bar morning buffet was so nice compared to the lido buffet.
