sassycruiser Posted August 18, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 18, 2016 Hello Curious if anyone has stayed here. Has decent reviews on trip advisor. We are doing one night in Vancouver and then catching the quick coach to Seattle for two nights. Being from Michigan I am absolutely stunned at hotel prices in Vancouver and Seattle is even worse. Thank you for any feedback.
xlxo Posted August 18, 2016 #2 Share Posted August 18, 2016 Located at Pender and Homer.... it's a few blocks away from general tourist locations. No I haven't stayed there. https://www.google.ca/maps/@49.2828493,-123.1117767,3a,75y,195.29h,82.59t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sSqW91mGn0sL7HgEFWrMZ4Q!2e0!7i13312!8i6656!6m1!1e1 What's your cruise date and your budget? Perhaps we can make some suggestions based on availability....
sassycruiser Posted August 18, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted August 18, 2016 We will be there 9/14. Trying to spend $250.00 or less. I think this is $229.00/night.
Rare Milhouse Posted August 18, 2016 #4 Share Posted August 18, 2016 I've walked past it a few time to go to this sandwich place for lunch. That area feels a tad sketchy as there's a bit but not a tonne of foot traffic on that block. A block or two over and it's fairly busy. I've had no issues though. As a plan B, have you considered staying outside the downtown core, like at the River Rock Hotel and Casino in Richmond, which is the municipality just south of Vancouver? If you're taking Quick Shuttle to Seattle, I think it's one of the stops along the way down. And River Rock is along the Canada Line metro. It's like a 20 minute ride into downtown. Rare martincath Posted August 18, 2016 #5 Share Posted August 18, 2016 Try searching the boards - I recall a couple of people staying in the Victoria last summer who enjoyed it, but if memory serves there are two distinct types of rooms due to the hotel having expanded into a new 'wing' a few years back. New rooms were nice & shiny, old ones not so much - so if there's a choice of standard/premium this is probably the difference. Area is gentrifying, but you are v close to Sally Army shelter. Downstairs resto, Cinara, is superb - our go-to celebration dinner spot. Personally I always suggest checking the YWCA Hotel for availability - it's a real hotel, not a hostel, and cheaper than any airport hotel let alone downtown ones. For any hotel reviews, frankly you are much better to check tripadvisor and similar - us real locals simply don't need to stay in hotels, so unless another visitor sees a post like this you won't really get the info you want... sassycruiser Posted August 19, 2016 Author #7 Share Posted August 19, 2016 Thank you very much. I think I will change to the Holiday Inn Downtown because the rate is good and also the quick coach picks up there which is much easier for us.
