OnTheWater50 Posted August 18, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 18, 2016 Hi all, We are booked on the Viking Star in January of 2017 with flights through Viking. Just wondering if those of you sailing in Oct/Nov/Dec this year have your flights? How are they routed? We are coming from the west coast and anticipate a red-eye flight the night before the cruise starts. Any information on Viking flights to Puerto Rico would be helpful! Thanks! sbcruiser111 Posted August 27, 2016 #2 Share Posted August 27, 2016 We 're traveling from LAX @ 12:55am thru Dallas to arrive in SJU @ 1:45pm for a Nov. sailing. The only good thing is that traffic in LA won't be bad!:)
OnTheWater50 Posted August 29, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted August 29, 2016 Thanks for the info! I was thinking that we will be routed in a similar way; it's very helpful to have some idea of how Viking is planning air. Have a great cruise! Jtm1979 Posted September 6, 2016 #4 Share Posted September 6, 2016 Sbcruiser, are you arriving in SJU on Day 1 San Juan or Day 2 San Juan. We've booked the Feb17 cruise and wonder if we miss one day in San Juan due to traveling from Idaho.
sbcruiser111 Posted September 6, 2016 #5 Share Posted September 6, 2016 We are arriving on Day 1 and thus leave LAX at 1am on that day, but arrive in SJU by 2pm. (the joy of losing time going east!) I'm sure that Viking will not book your flight to miss a day.
Rare Peregrina651 Posted September 6, 2016 #6 Share Posted September 6, 2016 Sbcruiser, are you arriving in SJU on Day 1 San Juan or Day 2 San Juan. We've booked the Feb17 cruise and wonder if we miss one day in San Juan due to traveling from Idaho. If you have booked your air with Viking, you should arrive in San Juan by Day 1, which is the stated arrival day of the cruise. All Viking itineraries count Day 1 as the day arrival day and not the day that you depart your home. Pay careful attention to your air tickets; while they try to avoid such flight plans, it may be necessary to depart home a day in advance in order to arrive in San Juan on Day 1.
