Coupon Booklet

On these boards I've read from time to time about Princess Coupon Books.

What are they? Coupons good for free items or discounts aboard ship?

I called my TA and asked about them and he thinks that perhaps they're left for people in their cabin when they board?

Can anyone shed some light?

Many times, when you book a cruise during a sale that your travel agency is running, they will offer coupon books to you. The coupons are mostly for reduced prices on merchandise, drinks and spa services, just as an example.

So is it *only* through a TA that one can get the booklet? My TA wasn't familiar with them, but I'll press him to call Princess for one if that's the only way to obtain it.

Yes, I have no doubt that most of the coupons will be useless for us. However, if the booklet doesn't cost anything and I can get an extra 8x10 photo for free and a couple of drinks, I'd be happy.
