SeattleSuz Posted August 29, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 29, 2016 How busy are the waterslides on the Getaway? I know on DCL, the pools were like kid/people soup, so that was not refreshing at all. Hubby is excited about the slides, but I am hoping that we aren't waiting in lines for a long time...
Sixtyonebluesman Posted August 29, 2016 #2 Share Posted August 29, 2016 On sea days the lines are longer but not too bad usually. While the ship is in port the lines are very short to non-existent in our experience.
sweetiekk Posted September 4, 2016 #3 Share Posted September 4, 2016 Never waited more than 5 minutes on port or sea days :) We had a blast going on the slides over and over.
Annmeat Posted September 4, 2016 #4 Share Posted September 4, 2016 When are you traveling? On sea days during school break there were lines of 10 minutes at most. Some people think that this is too long, we didn't. Off season has little wait A maybe 5 minutes On port days the slides have no wait.
Evangaline Posted September 5, 2016 #5 Share Posted September 5, 2016 I know this sounds really wimpy, but the deck to get on the whip and freefall slides is on deck 16, I believe, but where is the platform for the purple slide? I did not see it on the deck plans.

I did not see it on the deck plans. The steps are on 15 (pool deck), behind the kids pool and splash area. You can see them behind the slide in the pic
Evangaline Posted September 5, 2016 #7 Share Posted September 5, 2016 Thanks. The purple slide isn't just for kids, is it?

Annmeat Posted September 5, 2016 #9 Share Posted September 5, 2016 Thanks. The purple slide isn't just for kids, is it? No. I have never had the courage to try the free fall. I enjoyed the purple immensely! I made it to the platform for the free fall but I just wasn't feeling it.
boatseller Posted September 5, 2016 #10 Share Posted September 5, 2016 The queue length fluctuates all the time but yes, it is generally less busy on port days simply because there's fewer people on board. I would pass by, if the line was 'too long', I just came back in 30 min. Remember, you have to look up at the stairs to see the real queue. The drop slides can be rough, I don't know anyone who went more than once. You can wear a shirt but that significantly increase you chances of getting stuck, especially if you on the lighter side. Also, no jewelry or accessories of any kind. I know people who had to remove all visible piercings.
SeattleSuz Posted September 7, 2016 Author #11 Share Posted September 7, 2016 Oh wee! So excited to hear this. We are going at the beginning of November, and will probably have at least two port days where my daughter and i will have a couple of hours on the ship while hubby scuba dives. Glad to know that there is a weight requirement for the drop slides, as my 8 year old is only about 75 pounds...
