tring Posted September 8, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 8, 2016 We have booked a cruise for February 2018 which includes 5 ports in India. We were advised by the cruise company that we would need a multiple entry Indian visa because of the number of ports. We had visited India a couple of years ago on a land holiday and got a standard dual entry visa (after a couple of minor snags). As that is not valid for our cruise we have made our cruise booking to include the arrangement of the visa by the cruise company at a cost of £160 each. We were initially given the option of getting the visa ourselves and are thinking that may have been the best decision as we have an India Visa Centre in Liverpool (10 mile from home). We are mainly concerned that we may need to send our passports to the cruise company (who would then need to send it on to wherever the visa was produced) and passports could get lost. Our needs, (of a multiple entry visa), will be different to what most cruisers would need, because of the number of ports visited. Can anyone advise regarding obtaining an Indian visa. Hi tring, Although we are Aussie, we are also doing a cruise that visits various ports in India. We went and talked to the Indian consulate here in Perth, and were advised that a multiple visa was required. The process was simple for us at least. We filled out a form on line, made an appointment on line and then went in to see them. Our passports were ready to pick up 3 days later. Cheers. tring Posted September 21, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted September 21, 2016 Thank you, good to know the system works. We have done some more searching since I posted this question and have cancelled the visas from the cruise company. It seems we can get the visas ourselves for about £110, saving £50 each. There is a VFS office in Liverpool which is very near us. VFS is the official company who process Indian visas in the UK - other places do them as agencies, but charge a large extra fee. The visas and passports then have to go to the Indian High Commission and the passports come back within a couple of weeks. Which cruise company are you travelling with - is it Swan Hellenic or Voyages of Discovery? We are booked with Voyages of Discovery for February 2018 and they are connected to Swan, but I have not seen such a good itinerary with any other company. The rare ports make the research a bit more difficult though. Cheers, Barbara

Have a look at Ncl web site as the star head back to India, from Australia, next year. Lots of info about India port excursions on the Ncl star roll call thread.
