TeachKinde Posted September 20, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 20, 2016 Hmm.... I've arrived in Vancouver BC from Seattle and then departed for Hawaii. We did Canadian customs and then right away US customs. Our next trip departs Vancouver BC, goes to Victoria then Seattle. We ultimately depart in San Francisco. Where do we have to go through US customs? Any wisdom is appreciated!
fishywood Posted September 20, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 20, 2016 Customs--the declaration of any foreign goods you acquired and are permanently bringing into the country--is only done at final disembarkation. The procedures you underwent in Vancouver were processing your Immigration out of and then back into the USA. On your next trip there may be a passport inspection (immigration) in Seattle but again you will not need to fill out any US Customs declaration until you disembark in San Francisco. Starflyr3 Posted September 21, 2016 #3 Share Posted September 21, 2016 According to the Vancouver port authority website, US customs is done at boarding, as they consider entering the ship as entering US soil. Now that may be incorrect, but that is what it says here: http://www.portofvancouver.com/cruise/passenger-information/
Urban trekker Posted September 21, 2016 #4 Share Posted September 21, 2016 Don't think that will work in this case because your first port of call is a Canadian City - Victoria. While what you posted is usually the case on Alaskan cruises as the first port of call is American and for many other cruises they don't have a Canadian port as the first stop I can't see how it will work on this cruise. Seattle is your first US Port so that is where Customs/Immigration etc should be done. Hope this helps. Cheers! Dennis
Trellaine Posted September 23, 2016 #5 Share Posted September 23, 2016 I called as well to find out. And was told since my cruise stops in Victoria first then Astoria, Oregon. Customs comes on board to do this. Since Astoria doesn't have the facility/space. Interesting.
