grmmybtty Posted October 7, 2016 #1 Share Posted October 7, 2016 We will be on the Singapore to Rome segment of the 2016 RTW cruise on Insignia, making a stop at Abu Dhabi, which is also the end/start of a segment. Since it is a change over day, there are no excursions. For those of you who have made a stop at that port, are there any free shuttles? If so, where did they take you? Tansy Mews Posted October 8, 2016 #2 Share Posted October 8, 2016 We were there for a day and a half and we took the free port shuttle from the ship to Marina Mall, a large mall with activities, a range of stores (H&M, Body Shop, Woolworths! and Chanel, Coach, etc.) From there we took a taxi to nearby Heritage Village which seems popular with local families. There was a mock fishing village and a desert camp with a variety of styles of tents. The small museum had interesting exhibits - pearl diving equipment, for example. We realized afterwards we could have walked to the Heritage Village from the mall. The next morning we took a taxi to Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. It features beautiful finishes and decoration, some unusual like fibre optic flowers in the main prayer hall. It is the height of luxury and size, with room for 40 thousand worshippers at once (just 10 thousand inside though!) Don't forget you need to cover yourself - hair, arms and legs. Worth visiting.
