Cruising after Christmas - and into January

The question concerning a potential river cruise experience after Christmas was raised the other day. After having looked around the European market a bit I have found that there is indeed not much there and as regards appeal to US customers of non-US companies the best I could find IMO is what Arosa offers on their American website: http://www.arosacruises.com/home.html

Look for two round trips both starting on December 27th on the Danube and the Rhine.

New Year celebrations are a great tradition in Germany with lots of merriment, food, special concerts and fire works displays.

I would recommend spending such a day on the river, but I cannot say much about Arosa other than a few on CC have sailed with them and that they are a reputable German company, being in the top five of river companies here.

As regards cruising in Januar, this is very much possible on the European market but for the Nile and the Amazon!

European cruises end around the 4th of January; ships go to "hibernate" and crews go home to have a rest, as well.
