edpeeks Posted October 19, 2016 #1 Share Posted October 19, 2016 In April 2017 we are going to be over-nighting at St. Martin on the Celebrity Equinox. We get there on Thurs. April 20 @ 2PM and leave the next day @5PM. We have been to St. Martin over a dozen times but never over night. Does anyone have any experience with tours that would be evening oriented? We always eat early so there would be time after that for a tour of some sort. Thanks for your thoughts.

If you are overnighting you might want to consider flying or ferry to Saba, St. Barts or Anguilla for the night. Anguilla and St. Barts have nice beaches, Saba has some really great hiking and very beautiful, no beaches on Saba.

I don't think that an evening tour of the island would allow you to see as much as a daytime one the next day would so I wouldn't recommend that. To me personally, that's a great schedule for renting a car. I would rent one from 3 pm until 3 pm the next day and given that you have been to St. Maarten over a dozen times if I were you I would consider doing just that. Head to Grand Case first for an early dinner ( some restaurants open at 5 there) and you eat early so that would work.Pick a nice place that has a great sunset view. Drive to the Maho entertainment area next and shop and go to a casino and for an ice cream/coffee/or (A) cocktail and drive back to port ( parking is my only concern but you can ask the rental agency for advice). The next day head out early and go to beaches that you need a car for like Prune or Happy and stop in Marigot for the market and lunch and a trip to the fort. So many options with your port time for someone comfortable renting a car.
