Surf lessons

The only place that has waves for surfing would be on the hard to access east side of the island. Even if you were able to get there easily, most people recommend that you don't swim on that side because of dangerous currents.

 

Sorry, no surf lessons.

There is some surf on the Other Side as Bruce says, experienced surfers and bodyboarders go there but there are no lessons as it's not great for beginners.

 

If you have enough time you could always try kitesurfing though! Raul de Lille offers lessons - his site is here: www.kitecozumel.com

They say it's one of the fastest growing sports in the world - I'm taking lessons now too!

 

The only thing to bear in mind is that if you visit on a cruise you won't have that much time - it typically takes 6 - 7 half-day sessions before you can get out on the board. You could still have an introduction and watch the pros doing some tricks though...!
