We use bright colored sticky notes! Works great to leave messages for your room steward, too!

Do you mean the whiteboard for your outside doors for others to leave messages? My understanding is most doors on cruise ships are magnetic as we have used a magnet on our door for the last few cruises.

A piece of paper on the desk works, you know a scribble pad or post it notes.

Yes, for outside the door... We will have four staterooms amongst our group and will not have keys to each other's rooms, so sticky notes etc in the rooms will not work.

The doors are metal and magnets will stick to them...

We put our cruise critic sign on the door with strip magnets.
