If you are cruising into the Havensight dock in St. Thomas, you will see that there are very few car rental options in the area, and even fewer that you can walk to.

 

One of the more popular operations is Budget. However, you will often find on port days that Budget is long sold out.

 

Or is it?

 

If you go to their website of budgetstt dot com, you can often book a car on the SAME DAY even when they are claiming "sold out".

 

Once you have the reservation, just go down there (it's right on the dock) and they will have a car for you. If they don't, they will get one. If they ask when you made the reservation, just say you did so early in the morning.

 

This WORKED for us, and we got a car.

 

It is ADVISABLE to rent a car in St. Thomas if you have more than 2 people in your party, because taxis charge PER PERSON, and not per trip. It will get very expensive taking a taxi round trip for a family of 4.

 

It is also easy to drive in St. Thomas, aside from the left side of the road thing.
