Fishing

Anyone had any experience flats fishing out of the fishing village in CM? Any advise is appreciated.

I haven't but I've seen people attempting to fly or spin cast off the beaches along the malecon. I don't think they were having much success, too active of a waterway.

 

The flats fishing in Chetumal Bay though is excellent...bone fish, tarpon, dorado, etc.. Maya Beach Gardens, north of the costa Maya port using a guide service PescaMahhaual which takes small parties and gets good reviews from land vacationers. But they can be expensive. There are several deep sea fishing boats out of the village.

I went back searching as I knew there was another guy in Mahahual that has a good rep.

 

It's Nick Denbow, Western Caribbean Fly Fishing, as I recall. there are You Tubes and he has a website, but I can't pull it up at the moment.
