I am just trying to confirm...in order to use OBC on Cheers do you have to purchase it on board? I know it seems as though the answer is in the question, but was just hoping there was a way to avoid paying the extra $5/day for it.

Yes you can only use the OBC onboard. I made this same mistake on the Vista repo cruise. I put away the cash in advance using cruise cash, the realized I couldn't buy cheers till I boarded. What saved me was I had budgeted for an 11 day cheers package but it was only 10 days because we left from NY. So I didn't have to come out of pocket for the extra $5 a day.

Yeah, problem is I have a pretty large OBC that will be more than what I will spend on non-drink purchases. I just hate the thought of paying more for something just because of how I purchase it... Thanks all.
