Carnival Big Winner in 2005 Porthole Readers Choice Awards

spacer.gif11/09/2005 spacer.gifMIAMI – Carnival Cruise Lines has done it again – taking home more Porthole Magazine’s "Readers Choice Awards" than any other cruise line for the seventh straight year.

This year, Carnival took top honors in 11 different categories, with recognition in areas as diverse as Best Children’s Program and Best Computer Facilities to Best Entertainment and Best Caribbean Itineraries.

Since being established in 1999, Carnival has taken home 72 Readers Choice awards – the most of any cruise line during this period.

Carnival’s 2005 Readers Choice Awards include:

-- Best Children’s Program

-- Best Short Duration Cruises

-- Best Computer Facilities

-- Best Entertainment

-- Best Value for the Money

-- Best Onboard Activities

-- Best Art Auction Program

-- Best Medical Facilities

-- Best Caribbean Itineraries

-- Best Mexican Riviera Itineraries

-- Best Party Line

"Over the past few years, we’ve dedicated significant resources to enhance virtually every aspect of the ‘Fun Ship’ vacation experience. The breadth and scope of these awards speaks volumes about our efforts in providing guests with the widest variety of options at sea," said Bob Dickinson, Carnival president and CEO.

Added Bill Panoff, editor-in-chief of Porthole, based in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., "Our readers are savvy travelers. It's not surprising, then, that Porthole readers again have overwhelmingly ranked Carnival at the top of the list. Like Porthole, Carnival promises quality and consistently delivers it."

Carnival is the largest and most popular cruise line in the world, with 21 "Fun Ships" operating voyages ranging from three to 16 days in length to the Bahamas, Caribbean, Mexican Riviera, Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, New England, Bermuda and Europe.

The line will continue to expand with the launch of the 110,000-ton Carnival Freedom, set to debut in February 2007, and as-yet-unnamed 112,000-ton vessel, scheduled to enter service in spring 2008.
