How does carnival track if a kid should be in tween club or older teen club? Do they scan the card or just look at the kid?

They look at their S&S card, and use the information you have entered for them for your cruise. We always register our son before we sail, but you still have to sign paperwork in the club though. If you're looking to see if your kid can move up to the teen one, because of siblings/friends/or close to that age, that you'll have to wait until you get on board. It always depends on the camp director and capacity of the kids in each group.
