We haven't been yet, but here are a few things we are going to check out during our pre-cruise stay in FLL (we aren't arriving until afternoon, can't help with the daytime)...

Las Olas Blvd...... Lasolasboulevard.com

Water Taxi.....Watertaxi.com/fortlauderdale

Mango's......Mangosonlasolas.com

Hope that helps get you started.

Since most Broward County sights are close together, it's easy to pack a lot into a day if you have a vehicle. Catch the history, museums, and shops and bistros in Fort Lauderdale's downtown area and along Las Olas Boulevard. Then if you feel like hitting the beach, just take a 10-minute drive east to the intersection of Las Olas and A1A and you're there. Many neighboring communities, with attractions of their own, are just north or south of Fort Lauderdale.

See the downtown area, especially Las Olas Boulevard between Southeast 3rd and Southeast 15th avenues. After lunch at a sidewalk café, head for the nearby Arts and Science District and the downtown Riverwalk http://www.goriverwalk.com/; enjoy it at a leisurely pace in half a day. Tour the waterways, either on a rented boat from one of the various marinas along Route A1A, or via a sightseeing vessel or water taxi http://www.watertaxi.com/FortLauderdale/FLLHome.Asp. The latter can be boarded at various points along the Intracoastal Waterway.

Reachable by water taxi are attractions such as Beach Place, Broward Center for the Performing Arts, Galleria Mall, Las Olas Boulevard shops, Las Olas Riverfront, and the King Tut exhibit at the Museum of Art http://www.moafl.org/and Museum of Discovery and Science http://www.mods.org/; restaurants such as 15th Street Fisheries, Grill Room at Riverside Hotel, Shula's on the Beach, and dozens of others; and hotels such as the Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six, Radisson Bahia Mar, Riverside Hotel, and Pillars Waterfront.

You can also take an airboat ride at Sawgrass Recreation Park, at the edge of the Everglades http://evergladestours.com/.
