Caribbean / Crown Princess Balcony?

We are looking at a cruise on the Crown for 2006. We had a Carib deck balcony cabin on the Grand last year. Are the mini-suite balconies the same on the Caribbean size versions? Totally uncovered?

Just came from a HAL cruise where we had an aft cabin with a totally uncovered balcony. Hated it. Always had lots of soot and ashes from people above smoking.

If the Caribbean/Crown mini-suites are that way, might just stick with the BA cabin.

Thanks

Mike

I believe the Dolphin deck is uncovered while the Emerald deck is covered.

Correct! The Dophin deck cabin balconies are uncovered and totally exposed and the Emerald deck mini-suites are totalled covered and very private.

Are you sure it wasn’t from the ship’s funnel? We had a Caribe deck balcony on Island Princess directly under the funnel and found soot on our balcony almost every morning. It tends to be a problem for open deck areas aft of the funnel.

What a shame about the cig smoke, butts.

The aft balconies on Princess ships are totally covered - we've only managed to snag one (on the CB last Nov 04) and found no smell or soot. We did feel more motion back there, and had to take the extra wooden hangers off the closet rack because they banged together and kept us awake. A neighboring cabin mentioned the same thing. But we loved the privacy of the aft balcony.
