Walk-on WS Tour possible??

Hi - after many enjoyable Celebrity trips, thinking about going 'off the ranch' to try WS. Tried Oceania in Dec.

Question: I see WS Legend is in St. Maarten while we are (on Reflection) in April. Is there any chance, if I contact WS Marketing in advance, of getting approved for a brief (escorted) tour of Legend public areas? Or, due to security concerns, is this a likely non-starter?

Any hints on appropriate WS marketing contact? Would it help for my TA to do the reach-out?

We probably will try WS anyhow in the future given the favorable CruiseCritic coverage. Thanks in advance for feedback. HAPPY CRUISING

I very much doubt this could happen due to security . . . . . . but, I may be wrong, however, if you go to the Cruise Critic site, there is a box:

'Search for a cruise ship'.

Scroll down to Windstar and put 'Star Pride' in.

There is a link to 904 photos taken recently.

The three Star-sister ships (Pride, Legend and Breeze) are virtually the same.

We were on the Star Pride last summer and loved it so much, we've booked for this Spring!

The most wonderful staterooms are standard and spacious . . . . . 277sq.ft. if I remember . . . . . and are like some 5* hotels re space, sitting room, walking-in wardrobe.

The staff are superb and the food delicious.

'Highly recommended.

I was on the Wind Surf in December and when we were in port, the Legend was also in port. We asked if we could get a tour of it as we are thinking about trying the motor yachts. We were told that we couldn't due to security reasons.

A simple "walk-on", without being prearranged, is highly unlikely. But consider this:

  • You are more likely to get this, if it has been arranged in advance and requested through HQ in Seattle.
  • Yes, making the request via your TA may help. Your TA can contact the WS regional marketing rep for the southeast (hopefully the TA already has a working relationship with that person). It could not hurt to start there.
  • You need to agree to have your passport in hand, which you generally do not have in port because the ship you are on keeps it stored.
  • It is also likely (if WS is agreeable to this) they will ask to have a copy of your passport provided in advance.

As a TA I have never fielded this type of request, but working with a smaller line like WS, there maybe more likelihood of some rule bending.

And if you are successfully with this request please let us all know on the CC forum.
