kids program on the Sapphire/self-checkout

When we sailed the Star a few years ago with our then 12 yr. old grandson, he was able to check in and out of the kids program.

 

On the next cruise, the Sapphire, we are also sailing with my sister and her 9 yr old son. Will he be able to check in and out by himself, or will the parent have to do this? Will they be able to sign something that will not allow him to leave the program?

We just went on the Sapphire (10/22 sailing) and 8 year olds are allowed to sign themselves in and out. A parent needs to sign a separate form to allow the child to sign themselves in and out.
