Star Class vs Haven

Recommended Posts

Trying to decide and need some help from experienced cruisers.

I've been itching to try a Haven cruise on NCL for the past year. I haven't decided on anything because we really want to cruise on an Oasis class. I keep coming back to read up on Star Class, and there just isn't much out there it seems.

Entertainment wise, we like the big stage shows, ice shows, dueling pianos, dancing a bit, and random other things. I feel like Royal really wins this category.

We like dining solo- so I would imagine specialty dining most of the time. Both lines have good options from what I've read. Both offer in room dining which I know we would try one night. I would call it a tie.

Ports- NCL wins this as they have more options with ports we haven't been to.

Rooms- star class wins over the basic haven suites. Hands down.

Private space- haven area seems to win over royal. Also like that we could potentially bring our daughter.

Cost- Haven seems to be 1/3-1/2 the cost of Star Class. What things make Royal worth that, in your opinion?

Also- any idea on per person price range for 2br aquatheater suites? Looking for a ballpark without having to call royal.

Thanks everyone!

I've been loyal to royal for almost 20 years - in fact going on the Brilliance next month.

BUT - the Haven is the best cruise experience I have ever had (going again in December)

I can describe it as "a cruise within a cruise".

There are only so may cabins in that area - they have their own deck, pool, bar/lounge, and restaurant. If the weather is not favorable - the pool encloses

- no one but Haven guests allowed.

Depending on when you travel you can take advantage of their 3&4 person free offer. I booked the 2 bdr family suite for 3 of us $7900.

I like the casino better and the food better. NCL Escape has a very good buffet.

Depending on the age of the kids - they have a fantastic program for little ones (don't have little ones but checked it out for friends)

I don't know that I would choose NCL over RCCL unless traveling in the Haven; many complaints of crowdedness (but none in the Haven)

The spa was to die for - had the week passes.

I like to travel so the Haven is a treat! I stick with my local Royals for 4/5 day trips otherwise.

There is definatley a level of exclusivity that your offered than from Royals Suite Classes; maybe because of the separation. There is no need to pre-plan; Haven guests can always get a table in any dining venue at their preferred time - same with shows. They have in room dining down!

May I suggest you look at NCL Haven posts to learn more before you decide -

Again - Love my RCCL .... but they don't have a Haven😝
