OMG....They actually found the purse at the airport!!! We are good!

Wow that is amazing. In 2013 when we were going through security at the port in Tampa my husband accidently left his wallet in the little dish. It was stolen. No one knows if it was a passenger or some one in security. Thank goodness he had cargo shorts on and his passport was in one of those pockets. A nightmare start to vacation for sure. Wallet was never found, credit cards were never used. Cash for vacation was just what I had. He had pictures of 2 siblings that are no longer alive and now those are gone. Be careful even in a security area

I wish you and your family a good cruise.

I would like to offer some practical advice which may help with documents while traveling.

I take a copy of my passport, driver's license, and credit cards. These copies are put in a separate place other than my purse.

I do this in case I ever need to replace any of these things while traveling.

I am not certain that such copies would get me on a ship, plane or through customs, but they could serve as some kind of proof of my citizenship and residency.

On another note, I am a sixty - something person.

I can misplace or forget things. So, I think I can say this in a gentle way- you may need to keep a watchful eye on your MIL so that something like this instance does not happen again on your vacation.

Doing this is an act of kindness for her and not something that would cause her dismay.

Bon voyage !

I put a copy of our tickets/edocs/itinerary and a copy of our passports in each of our suitcases. It couldn't hurt.

We just flew into Orlando and took transportation to our hotel near Port Canaveral. Got to the hotel, and my MIL realized she didn't have her purse and it wasn't in the van. Her and my husband are on their way back to MCO to see if they can find it.

If they can't find it, it means she doesn't have photo ID or her passport.

What, if anything, can we do to get her on the Epic tomorrow?

Wish you luck.

Knowing how obsessed women are with their purses, I am still trying to figure out how your MIL got into a car and drove all the way to a Port Canaveral hotel without checking for her purse even once! What is it, about a 2 hour trip? I am constantly double checking the location of my purse when traveling, especially when it contains more $ than usual plus a passport. She must be really laid back.

Glad it all worked out.

This is such an interesting perspective. If I'm JUST carrying my purse, I'm all good. As soon as I'm carrying something else that I don't usually carry - like an airline carry on bag, a computer bag (a diaper bag, way back in the day), my brain says, 'Oh, you're carrying something you're good'. If I'm carrying TWO somethings - like a purse in addition to the above - I'm bound to leave one somewhere. So I can totally see how this can happen. Almost always, I recover my purse and valuables, but it's a nerve-wracking problem to have for sure. As a result, I NEVER carry a purse on vacation, money belt with money, one CC and my passport all the way and yes, I constantly check it, full of paranoia, because I know myself, lol.

No greater feeling of joy than finding your lost purse or wallet! Been there, done that. Going from my lowest point to my highest! It is amazing how much more conscious we became of our valuables for the rest of the trip after a similar experience.

Thanks everyone! We are so grateful to whomever turned her purse into the lost and found at the airport, nothing was missing.

I have copies of our passports, but not hers. And I had even asked yesterday morning if she wanted me to carry her passport.

She's never left anything behind before and isn't sure how it happened, other than it was busy and she was carrying more than she is used to.

We are so excited to be able to get on the ship today!!! :)

Absolutely! No criticism to the MIL! This is probably exactly how she lost track, carrying more items than normal, then throw in the rush and confusion of an airport, collecting luggage, etc. It's a good reminder to all off us to slow down and think a bit and recheck possessions frequently.
