Jacksonville airport

Looking for information to the Jacksonville airport and I know everyone on here are such seasoned travelers. We will be picking a couple up at the Jacksonville airport and I have read that there is a courtesy parking lot but my question is can we go into the courtyard area to wait for them? It's been over 40 years since I have been to this airport so I know it has really changed. Any infor would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, the original square waiting area (from 1968) is still open to all. It is pre-security. There is food, shops, and seating areas (including rocking chairs!).
