rachelrae36 Posted February 18, 2017 #1 Share Posted February 18, 2017 Hubby and are taking the train in and will be in Penn Station by 9 am. Is it possible to check in your luggage at the terminal at 10 but not board right away? I've always wanted to see the High Line and its not far from the port. Was hoping to board around 2 pm. You can absolutely drop your luggage off at the pier and then head in another direction. If the weather is good, the High Line is a nice place to explore. If you are looking for a bite to eat, you can take a ride over to Chelsea Market - it's where the old Nabisco factory used to be and where the Food Network studio resides. While you won't see the studio, you can walk through the market and grab breakfast at one of the many shops/restaurants in there.
Rare mking8288 Posted February 18, 2017 #3 Share Posted February 18, 2017 Porters are at the MCT piers by/before 8 AM for disembarkating pax with luggage help, take the luggage up upstairs (giant elevators from street level or escalators) and get it checked curbside (make sure they are tagged). Keep your passports, valuables, medications & important items with your day pack/personal items and then do your sightseeing, High Line or whatever. You need to be back to allow time to (quickly) get thru security, complete check-in before boarding the ship by the cut-off time or risk being denied boarding, as the gangways(s) will be up/disconnected away from the ship ... even if you have completed online check-in. For a 3 PM sailing, you are typically required to be ONBOARD the ship up to 2 hours before or 1 PM ... check your eDocs for any specific changes. Some will say you will only need 1 hour but ... Chelsea Market is a lot of fun :) Why not make a weekend of it? Come in the night before and stay at Yotel: http://www.yotel.com/en/
