Recommended Posts

First time on a cruise, Vancouver to Fairbanks, with one night in Anchorage, one or two nights in Mt Mckinley and Denali. Suggestions for boat, time of year, cabin with or without Balcony and add on tours.

On this trip, you absolutely want a balcony!!! There is nothing like sitting on your balcony, coffee or hot chocolate in hand, watching those glaciers calve. Be sure, no matter what time of year you are going, to bring a warm jacket for that portion of the trip. It gets pretty chilly out there.

We are from Maine, so I guess Denali didn't impress us as much as other people, although we really lucked out on seeing Mt. McKinley. We got one of those rare clear days when you could see the top.

The side trip I really am glad we took was the trip to Kotzebue.

For really info on land tours go to the Ports of Call board for Alaska. There are a couple of people who are extremely knowledgeable on excursions etc. especially for Denali and upper part of alaska.
