The thing we want to do the most as art lovers is go to the Louvre. I've read in the past the best way to by pass the crowds is to get a private tour guide. Has anyone done this? We don't mind spending what we need to. The Louvre is going to be a dream come true. Any suggestions?

The Louvre is huge....and one could easily spend a week within the museum and not see it all. It is simple enough to purchase a decent guide book and simply decide (before your visit) your own priorities, Do not even think about trying to see the entire museum on a single visit. Not sure what a tour guide can do other then take you to parts of the museum of interest to the tour guide. There are many tour books that give you advice on the Louvre...with probably the most famous (for details) being the Michelin Green guide. There are also books/maps available at the Louvre entrance.

P.S. Although we recognize the Louvre as a great museum...our personal favorite Paris art museum is the Musee d'Orsay.

Thank you so much. Perhaps we will consider your favorite museum instead.
