Rent a car on Curacoa or Aruba?

We are wanting to rent a car to go out and explore on our own at either Curacoa or Aruba. Which would be your favorite and why?

We routinely rent cars on both islands. But the answer to your question really depends on you....and what you want to do with your day. For example, on Aruba if you simply want to go to Eagle or Palm Beach for the day you really do not need to get a rental car. But if you want to drive around the island, perhaps explore the dessert like Northeastern side. etc...then you would want a car...or possibly a 4WD vehicle.

As to Curacao its a similar situation. We usually rent a car since we like to drive more then 20 miles from the port to some remote beach areas (like Jeremy Beach) which are not used by any ship tours (which is the great attraction for us). But if you want to go to one of the more popular beach or beach clubs that are within a few miles of the port you would probably do better to simply use a taxi.

Keep in mind that Curacao is a much larger island (with less developed roads) then Aruba. Some of the places we go are over an hour from the port...whereas Aruba is much more compact.
