Cathy Young Posted November 17, 2005 #1 Share Posted November 17, 2005 We will be sailing on the Diamond Princess to Alaska in May 2006. My husband wants to go fishing in Ketchican. Princess offers a sportsfishing charter. Has anyone taken it? I read somewhere on the boards that if you book through Princess you can have them cook your fish on board, and serve it for one of your meals; but if you booked through an independant you could not do that. Does anyone know if that is true?
LARGIN Posted November 17, 2005 #2 Share Posted November 17, 2005 It is true... Only fish caught on Princess sponsored charters are allowed back onto the ship.
Cathy Young Posted November 17, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted November 17, 2005 We will only be in port from 6:30am to 2pm, so probably 4 to 5 hours will be all he can do. I am afraid if he does an independant excursion that he may not have enough time to get back, so the Princess excursion is probably the best bet. Does anyone know who Princess uses for the "Ketchikan Sportfishing Expedition", and how may people are usually on a fishing boat?
Rare northwoods2 Posted November 17, 2005 #4 Share Posted November 17, 2005 We went independent with True Alaskan Charters in Ketchikan and had an outstanding fishing trip. They handled shipping home the halibut that we caught.
