I can't address the weather question. We leave in six weeks.

We did book our air through Viking. We are very pleased with the connections. Our layovers are short, a little over 2 hours each. We fly Denver to New Jersey and then on to Stockholm. On the return flight we are flying out of Oslo to Frankfurt and then on to Denver.

What time of year is best for this cruise-weather, ocean calmness?

Did you book flights thru Viking? How many connections did you have?

We went last September and the weather was great. A few degrees warmer overall than it had been the previous 2 years(yes, we booked that far out). We had one day in SP where there were some drops but no need for an umbrella. The temps had averaged at 59 F in research with 20% chance of rain. I took 2 sweaters and a fleece sweatshirt that I never had on and the sun was our friend. The lowest early day report might have been 53 F and the highs were in the 80s. The water was calm the whole time. No ocean movement but you could tell when we left port that something was happening.
