Capt. Nick Bates's midday announcements

Hi,

 

When we were on the QE2, we really enjoyed Capt. Nick Bates's announcements.

 

Most of them ended with a quote by Patrick O'Shaughnessy (don't know if I spelt his name right).

 

Does anyone know where you can get all of Patrick's quotes?

Hi,

 

Don't recognise the name but I suspect you might find them in Nick's own book which contains lots of his little stories.

 

If I could find it I'd tell you the title. Anyone else know it?

I have Nick's book, which is where some of his trivia came from, I'm glad I bought when I did because it had sold out by the end of the cruise!

 

I've taken a look at Arthur O'Shaughnessy's poem and that's not what I'm looking for.

 

One of Patrick O'Shaughnessy's phrases was "If you lend a friend £20 and you never see him again, it was probably worth it"

 

I can't remember any more of them, which is why I'd like to find them.

If you Google that phrase you'll come up with lots of sources, none of them apparently linked to a Patrick O'Shaunessy - perhaps he's been copied without credit....you can see plenty more in a similar vein here:
