Which website to book canopy tour?

Should we use canopytours-vallarta .com or puertovallartatours .net?

I see the latter has better prices, but I have heard only good things about the first one. Can anyone compare them?

There are three to choose from.

Vallarta Adventures http://www.vallarta-adventures.com/,

El Eden http://www.canopyeleden.com/,

and Los Veranos http://www.canopytours-vallarta.com/.

I did Vallarta Adventures last year and Los Veranos last week.

VA is primarily tree-to-tree with very little walking other than the climb up to the starting point at the end of the excursion.

LV has some tree-to-tree lines but mostly you zip from one side of a river canyon to the other. There is a fair amount of steep walking from station to station but the staff will carry your pulley if it gets too heavy for you. The excursion ends at the bar/restaurant.

Which is better - Least physical effort with VA, better scenery and longer lines with LV. (I seem to remember that the longest line is 300 meters and the highest line is 450-475 feet.)

At LV, the longer lines (cable droop) and the pully design make it common for light-weight people to come up short of the receiving station. It was common for the staff to have to "rescue" somebody from 30-40 feet out of the landing.

VA has a more rigid schedule but I believe they pick you up at the dock. LV's office is on the far south side of PV and requires a 50 or 60 peso yellow taxi trip each way. LV has a shuttle bus that runs back `n forth to the PV office from the excursion site during most of the day. You can stay at the site and swim, eat in their restaurant or calm your nerves at the bar. Your return time to PV is up to you.

Booking -

VA will let you book and pay via the internet (with discount) as long as you are not on a cruise ship line that also sells their tour.

LV lets you book via the internet (with discount) and you pay out at the excursion site. The discounted price is the cash price (697 pesos or about $66 USD at the current exchange rate). There is a 5% surcharge for payment with a CC. I don't know if they have any restrictions on people that come in on the cruise ships.

Vallarta OnLine is another internet based tour booking agency. I have used them for years and had very good results. http://www.vallartaonline.com/
