cd-tk Posted November 19, 2005 #1 Share Posted November 19, 2005 does rccl have a luau on board or a midnight buffet set up as one?
sally r Posted November 19, 2005 #2 Share Posted November 19, 2005 All of the Hawaii cruises have some sort of Hawaiian theme nights, including a "luau" on the pool deck. You will also have Hawaiian entertainers for music and dance shows in the centrum several nights. We have seen craft lessons (lei making, weaving, etc.) on board by natives of the Islands. We have done four Hawaii cruises and will be on the Radiance for the May of 2006 Hawaii cruise.
tammie brooke Posted November 19, 2005 #3 Share Posted November 19, 2005 Is the luau pretty long, fast and slow dances. If we see that will it be enough of the luau experience or do you recommend seeing a luau on land?
sally r Posted November 19, 2005 #4 Share Posted November 19, 2005 It will depend on which cruise you are on if there will be enough time to book a Luau on shore. The largest luau is the Old Lahaina Luau on Maui. It is a real production with the meal, drinks and an elaborate show. If you are on the Radiance, you will not have time in port to do this. If you have a pre or post cruise stay in the islands, then book a "real" luau. We prefer the smaller luau's at some of the different hotels. They are more authentic. cd-tk Posted November 20, 2005 Author #5 Share Posted November 20, 2005 Thanks sally, I will be on the radiance and the only port late enough is honolulu. I,ve been to Hawaii twice before and to luau's the one in honolulu i went to was not very good. The other couple going with us have not been before and trying to decide if they should go to one on shore or if the ship's will do.
