Carnival v. Princess

We've sailed both plus a couple others. We got off the Carnival Liberty from a Med cruise a few weeks ago and last Spring we did a Ft Lau to San Fran via Panama Canal on the Princess Coral. Since both cruise were 12 for Liberty and 16 for Coral the average age group of both were relatively the same. Liberty 50+ while Coral 55+. The food on the Princess Coral was far superior to the Liberty. But I think Carnival was trying something new. On the other hand the night life was more enthusiastic on the Liberty. Seems the Casino was full most the time on the Liberty while the Coral was rather dead at night. The nightly entertainment was about the same. The Liberty type of ship was one of those where "You can't get there from here". It also had 3000 passenger compared to 1900 so it was a much larger ship.

Honestly both were fantastic cruises. Just get with others by using this web site and you can't make a mistake.

Oh, yes, I forgot about those wonderful fresh water pools! And, they're open 24 hours. They don't stack the lounge chairs at night. Anytime Dining is a nice concept and we traded off between that and Traditional Dining.

I'm not sure about other ships in the Princess fleet but on the Caribbean Princess the pools close at midnight except the Calypso pool. The Calypso closes at 5:30pm to get ready for MUTS.

As you can see below we have had the pleasure of cruising with both Princess & Carnival. I agree with most of the posters here that Princess has a slightly more sedate feel to it but there was nothing sedate about the Princess Idol shows. We even had one rather under the weather contestant Moon the audience. Needless to say he wasn't voted into the next round. We just want to cruise & experience the different things in life. Relax & Enjoy.
